Google Analytics Libraries

Google has its own client libraries for the most common programming languages (PHP, Java, Python, JavaScript) to use the API.

Since the Google Analytics tracking code is a snippet of JavaScript, it also works with different libraries. Since 2009, these libraries have changed 4 times:

  • urchin.js (before 2009)
  • ga.js (before 2013)
  • analytics.js (since 2013)
  • gtag.js (since 2017)
